The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice.

The forecast:

Cold and clear to start with some icy patches. Fine and sunny day thereafter with a strong northerly wind, easing through the day. Maximum temperature 6°C but feeling much colder than that with significant wind chill.

This evening frost and ice risk developing quickly and also through the early hours of tomorrow with cloud tending to thicken more generally by the end of the period. Light and variable winds, increasing to fresh to strong and from the south by dawn Friday.

Cloudy and dry start to Friday with patchy rain approaching from late morning, and persisting for much of the rest of this period. This may initially fall as sleet over higher ground. Moderate to fresh south or southeasterly wind and a maximum temperature of 7°C and feeling less cold than today.
