The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice.

The forecast:

A wet start to the day with outbreaks of rain or sleet this morning, likely falling as sleet or snow over higher ground. Temperatures cold this morning with the risk of patchy ice in some sheltered areas and wider stretches of ice over higher ground. The rain will clearing late morning or early afternoon and become brighter for the afternoon. Moderate to fresh westerly winds and a maximum temperature of 5°C.

Wednesday will be bright with some sunny intervals but also with the odd wintry shower, especially during the morning. Frost and ice risk continuing with a light to moderate northwesterly wind and a top temperature of 6°C.

Thursday looks like it will start dry and bright with sunny intervals but will gradually turn cloudy during the day. Then with rain developing for a time overnight, likely to fall as sleet or snow mainly over higher ground. Light southerly winds will freshen south-easterly during the afternoon and with highs of 5°C.
