The Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert.

Forecasters are warning of frost and icy patches.

The forecast:

One or two wintry showers in places at first this morning, then generally dry with some sunshine, but turning cloudy this afternoon as the northwest wind backs westerly with a few outbreaks of rain this evening and tonight.

Cold with a slight frost in places at first, and the risk of icy patches on the roads and pavements. Temperatures gradually reaching about 6 Celsius.

Rather cloudy tomorrow but mostly dry with just a small risk of an isolated shower with light or moderate west or southwest winds.

Some rain tomorrow night, occasional wintry showers on Friday carried on a strong westerly wind.
