The hosepipe ban is over.
Manx Utilities made the announcement this morning.
The authority imposed the ban on August 3 as reservoirs emptied during the drought.
Despite recording one of the worst raw water stock low points for many years and the below-average rainfall during the ban period, MU says the reservoirs are ’now looking sufficiently healthy to allow the ban to be removed’.
Chairman Dr Alex Allinson MHK said: ’I am very grateful that the people of our island have risen to the challenge when raw water stocks became extremely low following a prolonged period of very warm weather.
’The majority of people accepted the "temporary-use-ban" (or hosepipe ban as it is known) seriously and those efforts have most certainly helped the island sustain clean drinking water stocks going into the winter months.’
