Isle of Man Young Farmers have announced the routes for this year’s Christmas Tractor Runs.

Friday evening’s run (December 10) will gather at Port Erin breakwater at 5pm before setting off at 6.25pm through Port Erin and onto the road to Castletown, through Colby and Ballabeg. The approach to Castletown is along the bypass, turning right onto Arbory Road, arriving in Castletown Square at around 7pm.

Leaving Castletown at 7.15pm they move on through Ballasalla Village, turning left at the roundabouts to Cross Fourways, then up the Ballamodha to Foxdale where there will be a slow procession through the village at around 8pm.

They set off towards St John’s around 8.15pm, expecting to arrive there at 8.30pm, then on through Crosby and Union Mills to the Quarterbridge, where they turn left and proceed up to the Grandstand to finish.

The run on Saturday evening starts at Peel, where they will gather on Shore Road, Peel Promenade, at 4pm. They set off at 5.40pm and head along the A4 coast road to Kirk Michael, arriving there at around 6pm with a slow procession through the village. They are then expected to arrive at Ballaugh Bridge at 6.20pm, Sulby Village at 6.30pm and Parliamnent Square, Ramsey at 6.50pm before moving on to Market Square. They depart Ramsey at 7.45pm, travelling along the A2 Coast Road towards Laxey. They are expected to run through Glen Mona at around 8pm, Laxey Village at around 8.15pm and reach Onchan Village at around 8.45pm before continuing along Glencrutchery Road to the finish at the Grandstand.

There is a map on the Isle of Man Young Famers’ Facebook page where they have highlighted a number of prime viewing locations for the two evenings, including the Colby Glen pub and the Baltic in Foxdale on the Friday evening, and the Wildlife Park, Dhoon Glen and Mines Road Corner, Laxey on Saturday.

Young Farmers’ secretary, Bryony Kneale, said: ’Friday evening’s southern run is bigger this year. Our estimated arrival times may vary slightly on the night but we’ll be keeping everyone updated via Facebook Live and Energy FM Isle of Man.

’This year we’re so happy to be raising money for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy IoM and REACH IoM, two amazing local charities.

’If you have some spare pennies you can send them to our Just Giving page, we would be so very grateful.’ ß??

Last year’s Christmas Tractor Runs raised £11,000 which was split between Rebecca House and Isle of Play.
