Some of the island’s potential stars of the stage finally got their chance to appear in their own show last weekend.
Drama students who attend the Arts Hub Theatre school took to the stage to perform the school’s production, ’Seussical’, a quirky musical featuring many of Dr Seuss’ characters, including Horton the Elephant, the Who’s of Whoville and more at the Ballakermeen Studio Theatre on September 12.
The show featured more than 120 young performers, aged between three to 14 years olds who attend the hub’s Saturday academy classes, with many of them walking on stage for the first time.
’We were absolutely delighted that we got the chance to present this production, after having to postpone the original production in March, just before lockdown, said Arts Hub director Danielle Bridson, who put the show together along with musical director Emily Coates and teachers Jade Ward, Hilary Duncan and Tara Kneen.
’The Arts Hub feel so lucky to not have the restrictions that similar theatre companies in the UK have at the moment and we believe we were one of the first youth companies to perform to a live audience, with no social distancing since lockdown.’ The Arts Hub show was backed by Appleby.
