A public meeting is due to be held today (Tuesday) over plans for more housing in Colby.
Revised plans for the government-owned land at Ballacubbon, Colby, has been submitted by the Department of Infrastructure’s public estates and housing division (17/00414/B).
About half of the site has previosly been developed for affordable housing.
Now 20 new affordable homes are planned for the rest of the land.
The application is for five two-bedroom bungalows, seven two-bedroom houses and eight two-bedroom flats the development would include 40 car parking spaces and landscaped open space.
The site is bounded by the rear gardens of homes on Croit ny Gloinney, Ballacriy Park and older properties on Main Road.
But the Department of Infrastructure says the proposals have been shaped to minimise the impact of the development as much as possible on adjacent dwellings.
Initial proposals had been to develop the site with two-bedroom flats but following public consultation the division decided not to proceed with a planning application.
Instead, it reassessed the housing need in the area and has now changed the mix of types of housing.
It is intended that the new development will be designated as a Home Zone to encourage low speed traffic.
To ensure as many members of the public as possible are able to view the detailed plans, the DoI and Arbory Parish Commissioners, will be hosting a drop in session at Colby Methodist Chapel today (Tuesday) from 3pm to 7.30pm.
Representatives from the public estates and housing division will be there to answer questions.
Anyone is unable to attend this session but would still like to see the detailed plans can contact Arbory commissioner Jane Glover on 492010 or 835013 to arrange access.
