Riding strongly, Sharpe came in with a 54-strong group jostling for 53rd place and crossed the line a creditable 72nd, some nine minutes down on the winner, European champion and former world champion Annemiek Van Vleuten (Movistar).
The latter outsprinted breakaway partner Katarzgna Niewiadoma (Canyon SRAM) for the win.
Holden was posted as one of the 57 non-finishers, while fellow Manxie Anna Christian - who was originally on the start list - was not involved.
l Sam Brand (Novo Nordisk) finished a good 55th in Sunday’s International Rhodes GP 186.3km one-day road race in Greece.
