With only two titles decided at the time of writing, there is a lot left to play for on the final Saturday of the delayed 2019-2020 Manx Hockey Association league season.

First up are Bacchas A versus Vikings A who go head-to-head in a winner-takes-all battle in the Rossborough Men’s Premier League.

Bacchas only need a draw to take home the title, while Vikings must win to earn the silverware for the first time in a number of years. The two sides have produced some classic games over the years with last-minute goals, drama and some fantastic hockey - the signs are that this will be no different.

Elsewhere, Bacchas B will hope to sew up the title during their midweek fixture against Castletown A who are hovering just above the bottom of the table in Rossborough Men’s Division One.

At the time of going to press this fixture hadn’t been completed, but if Bacchas win they will go into the weekend as champions. If Castletown win, they can almost consider themselves safe from finishing bottom and Bacchas would need to win on Saturday to guarantee them the title.

The bottom-of-the-table fight is one of the most interesting battles in Manx hockey right now with three sides fighting on four points each.

Valkyrs B currently sit bottom with a -26 goal difference, while Castletown A lie just above with a goal difference of -17 (before their midweek fixture) and Vikings C are on -15.

Valkyrs B face Castletown B in a head-to-head which would see the winner guarantee survival, while Vikings C take on champions-elect Bacchas B - with the potential to see some serious changes in goal difference, this is a battle that could go down to the wire.

Rossborough Men’s Division Two sees a tight fight between Bacchas Colts and Saracens B.

Until last week it was the latter who had led from the start with some impressive performances from their young guns, but Bacchas Colts have improved as the season has gone on, culminating in them taking top spot last weekend following their win against Saracens B.

Saracens play third-placed Ramsey B while Bacchas Colts face a tough Castletown B side who, despite not scoring as much as the top three sides in the league, are incredibly hard to break down and could have a big say in the destination of the title.

Rossborough Women’s Division Two sees a simple outcome: should Bacchas C fail to win by 17 goals, then Vikings C will win the title.

Vikings have played all their fixtures and currently sit on a goal difference of 32, while Bacchas C have a goal difference of 16.

With the whites facing a tough game against Valkyrs C, winning the title may be a stretch too far despite the fact that the whites are the favourites for the win against the westerners.
