This weekend could see two teams crowned champions in Manx Hockey Association’s outdoor leagues.

Bacchas A are aiming to clinch the PwC Men’s Premier League title for an unprecedented seventh time in a row should they overcome Valkyrs A.

Given Bacchas’ excellent form this year, you would be hard pushed to find anyone who does not think they will claim the title this weekend.

Saracens are looking to continue their improvement season-on-season with a great showing this year.

Top of the table and clear by six points, a single point this weekend against Harlequins A would result in them lifting the title and earning themselves promotion to the Premier League.

With the young team that Saracens have, you could see them challenging for honours in the top flight if their continued improvement does not stall.

Elsewhere in the PwC Men’s Premier League, Vikings A are aiming to do their B team a favour in the relegation stakes by beating Castletown A while the Vikings second string will hope to earn anything they can. Even a narrow loss would help their survival hopes on goal difference.

Valkyrs B will be hoping Harlequins can claim victory against Saracens to give them a faint hope of resurrecting their own title challenge in PwC Men’s Division One while the westerners take on Ramsey B.

Should the latter side draw or lose, it will see them relegated into PwC Men’s Division Two.

Vikings C take on Bacchas B and with both games between the two sides going in Vikings’ favour - albeit very narrowly - the All Blacks will be looking to earn another win against their Douglas rivals.

In PwC Women’s Premier League, Vikings A take on Valkyrs A and, after the formers’ shock loss to Bacchas last weekend, Valkyrs will sense an opportunity to take the initiative in the title race.

Ramsey A and Bacchas A go head-to-head in their own battle for survival, with the northerners needing a win to boost their survival hopes having fallen a long way behind on goal difference.

PwC Women’s Division One continues to be close with up to four teams still able to win the league.

Saracens A and Valkyrs A have the advantage over the rest currently and, with Valkyrs and Saracens favourites to beat Bacchas B and Vikings B respectively, it should be a title race that goes down to the wire.

PwC Women’s Division Two is another fairly close affair, with Castletown B leading the way from Saracens B. Town should have the strength to defeat Bacchas C but the current impression is that Saracens B versus Ramsey B will be a tight game, meaning the southerners could end up moving well clear of their opponents this weekend.

In the men’s third tier Harlequins B and Valkyrs C go head-to-head, with both looking to prove their title credentials, while Saracens B take on Bacchas C in a bottom-of-the-table clash.
