Ramsey Crookall Cronkbourne Bacchas host Alderley Edge seconds in the second round of the rebranded England Hockey Men’s Trophy at the NSC on Sunday.

Alderley Edge currently play in North Hockey Men’s Division Two West and sit in mid-table after seven games.

Bacchas should be confident after last year’s trophy run saw them narrowly lose out in the quarter-finals to beaten finalists Didsbury Northern.

Having now played a lot of teams in the north of England in regional rounds, Bacchas’ have knowledge about some of the teams in this league and how they play. Hopefully they can put this to good use.

Bearing in mind that it’s mixed season in the island, the squad have undertaken extra fitness and technical/tactical sessions to prepare for what looks like a good round two tie.

National league umpire Gemma Jones will be making the journey to take the whistle alongside the Isle of Man’s Vic Ferns.

Hopefully a big crowd will turn out for the local side and give them an added push in a competition Bacchas are looking to go far in.

The game will push back at 1.30pm.

Bacchas squad: Dave Whiting (GK), Jamie Brown (C), James Harrison, George Harrison, Jonny Callow, Andrew Whiting, Gareth Craig, Chris Bass, Tony Bentley-Roberts, Andrew Vernon-Browne, Paul Griffiths, Callum Robb, Craig Leece, John Gaydon, Karl Moore.
