Bacchas suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the England Hockey Men’s Tier Two Championship in London on Sunday.

The Manx side had already made history by progressing further than any other team from the Isle of Man in an England Hockey knockout competition.

They went into the match against their East London counterparts as underdogs but produced an excellent performance and held their opponents to a 1-1 draw, with Jonny Callow netting for the islanders.

Unfortunately it was the English side who held their nerve to prevail in the resulting penalty flicks, East London triumphing 4-2 despite Antony Bentley-Roberts and Chris Bass successfully converting their efforts.
