Manx Amateur Boxing Club held its annual awards night on Saturday, recognising the efforts and achievements of its boxers across the season.

The event, at the Views Restaurant in Onchan, saw families, coaches and club members gather to applaud the next generation of Manx boxing talent.

Throughout the season, Manx ABC boxers have continued to show commitment in the gym and pride when representing the Hills Meadow club, and the awards offered a chance to recognise those efforts away from the ring.

Josh Duggan was one of the standout names on the night, taking home both the Most Improved Boxer award and the Best Junior Boxer title after an impressive season of progress.

His recognition reflected a boxer who has clearly developed in confidence, technique and ring craft over the course of the year.

His two awards were warmly received and underlined the progress he has made through consistent training and determination.

Louis Graham was named Best Schools Boxer, with his award recognising the promise he has shown at a young age and the work he has put in during training.

Finley Sweet also enjoyed a memorable evening, winning Best Youth Boxer and the Boxers’ Boxer of the Year award, a prize made more special by being recognised by fellow club members.

Finley’s double success highlighted both his performances and the regard in which he is held inside the club, with the Boxers’ Boxer honour showing the respect he has earned from those who train alongside him.

The Boxers’ Boxer award is often regarded as one of the most meaningful honours of the night, as it reflects the respect of team-mates and fellow competitors.

In the senior ranks, Dom McCallum was awarded Best Senior Boxer, rounding off a list of winners that reflected the strength of talent coming through Manx ABC.

His award recognised the example set by the club’s boxers and the standards they help create for younger members to follow.

Together, the winners represented the full pathway of the club, from the ‘Little Rockys’ under-12 beginners programme to the developing school’s boxers, youth competitors and senior athletes, giving supporters plenty of reason to feel optimistic about the season ahead.

For many in the room, the awards were also a reminder of the hours put in away from the spotlight - the midweek training sessions, encouragement from coaches, lifts from parents and the steady support that keeps local sport thriving.

Head coach Peter Roberts said the range of winners showed the depth of talent across the age groups, from schools’ level through to the senior squad.

‘We are incredibly proud of every boxer who has represented Manx ABC this season.

‘The awards are a chance to recognise the effort they put in week after week, not only on competition nights but in every training session.

‘The attitude across the club has been excellent, and the future looks very bright.

‘With talented young boxers coming through, experienced seniors setting the standard and a strong team of coaches, families and volunteers behind them, Manx ABC can look back on the season with pride - and forward to the next one with real excitement.’
