Maxx Bradshaw and Liam Whitely scored a career-best result in the Cambrian Rally last weekend with a strong 14th overall and 11th BTRDA.
The event saw the British Rally Championship combine with the BTRDA series for the annual trip to Llandudno in North Wales.
Approximately 140 cars started the event, which covered 45 stage miles of classic Welsh stages.
’The plan was to really attack on this rally as we now have four scores on the board,’ said Maxx. ’But when I saw Welsh junior champion Tom Llewellyn [son of Dai] and another close junior rival, Ioan Lloyd, off on the same corner I decided to stay smooth and fast.
’So without trying too hard I managed to find a really good rhythm, we even got two top-12 times overall, which is great.’
The gruelling event saw 20 cars either off or stopped in two stages with four more forest tests and a three-mile Tarmac stage to finish.
Co-driver Liam added: ’It was such a challenging event and the conditions were very rough. Maxx drove a blinder again and is pushing the old Evo really hard.
’To make things a bit sweeter I have just been crowned ANWCC overall Forest Champion so I’m very pleased with that.’
Bradshaw and Whitely both sit in the top five in the big class [B13] and Maxx is now third junior in BTRDA and second junior in the Welsh Rally Championship.
Martin Freestone and Chris Heyes had another great run in the Orange BDG MK1 Escort and put some more points in the championship bag. They still lead the historic class and will be looking to finish the job in the final round next weekend.
