Newfield Castletown welcome Crosby to King William’s College on Saturday as cricket’s Karran Cup League season continues.

Hopefully, Town batsman Jack Newbery will be now into full stride and will be keen to bounce back from the run-out at Ramsey last weekend.

The southerners man in form, Mark Williams, will be hopeful of continuing his good start to the season with both bat and ball.

However, Hannan Law Crosby looked very strong last week when they overcame Valkyres’ first innings score of 155 in under 26 overs.

The Kniveton boys and Richard Tarr will look to amass more runs on a grass pitch that has improved immensely this year.

Tromode sees the derby match between Baker Tilly (Isle of Man) Cronkbourne and their tenants, Valkyres.

Cronkbourne put in a good team performance to win against Peel last weekend and they will be confident of a win over Valkyres, whom they beat in a T20 match a couple of weeks ago.

Valkyres, however, will look to improve upon their last performance and are hopeful that they can cause Cronkbourne some problems in the 40-over game.

Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill’s game against Ramsey and the Development XI’s match against Peel have both been postponed because of pitch availability issues during TT.

YOUNGSTERS HEAD TO

DERBYSHIRE FOR GAME TIME

This coming weekend, the Academy players and the those attached to the cricket association’s Emerging Player Programme will head to the UK to widen their experience of the game.

Edward Walker, Carl Hartmann, Jacob Butler, Nathan Williams, Luke Ward and Tom Ward will join their older colleagues, Eddie Beard, Charlie Beard and George Burrows on a trip to Leeds to watch the opening day of England’s second test with Pakistan on Friday.

The following day the Manx youngsters will all play League cricket, before taking on a representative side from Derbyshire on Sunday.

These young players have already made a good contribution to this season’s senior matches and these new opportunities will undoubtably help their development. We will report back on how they got on in the future.
