The last week’s senior fixtures have showed that Cronkbourne are the team to beat in all formats.
Wins against Peel and St John’s in the midweek T20 league and Saturday’s 40-over Premiership mean the Tromode club are top of the pile in both.
With plenty of cricket still left to play this season there is plenty of time for the other clubs to catch up, especially when you consider both games were run very close.
In the end it was an individual performance which swayed both results.
Without Carl Mellors’s contributing 69 to their total of 164 on Saturday, Cronkbourne wouldn’t have posted a target worth chasing.
Reports from the ground still say Peel and St John’s lost the game although Sam Mills can take credit for removing three of the vital wickets.
Nevertheless at 123-5 you would have still thought PSJ would have knocked off their target, but credit to the Cronkbourne bowling and fielding for restricting them.
The mid-week fixture had a similar story with Eddie Beard scoring 49 of the 162 runs and nobody from PSJ taking the responsibility to chase it down.
Across other formats another three hundreds were added with none of the results showing any real surprises and all going to form.
