This weekend there are onlythree matches in the Karran Cup Premiership as Cronkbourne versus Castletown has been postponed until next Sunday, June 17.

In the fixtures that do go ahead, Hannan Law Crosby welcome Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill to the Marown Memorial Playing Fields.

Crosby have played well in their games so far and sit top of the league with Cronkbourne.

Finch Hill will hope that their up-and-coming young stars will develop further ably assisted by some old hands like Ben Bennett-Naish and Peter Foxton.

Shimmin Wilson Peel and St John’s lost their last game against Cronkbourne and will aim to bounce back straight away against Valkyres.

The latter will hope to raise their game against a top side again, but this time end the game with a better result.

They will need to improve their batting in order to put PSJ under any sort of pressure. They have the batsmen who can score quickly in the right circumstances but PSJ may dominate once again.

Ramsey take on the Development XI on Sunday and this will most likely throw two young sides together with a few ’oldies’ added to the mix.

Can Will Ward get back onto the scoring trail or will Mark Williams return once again to top the statistics with both bat and ball?

Ramsey’s players shared out the wickets when they played Castletown last week.

However, having checked the scorecard, they will need to get a grip of the extras, especially the wides.

They are not alone, mind you, as a team who suffers from ’Extrasitis’ this summer.

The mid-week T20 senior and junior leagues are now well under way and are important part of the cricket scene.

Shimmin Wilson Peel top the T20 Cain League after five games and their second team share top spot with the Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill’s second team in the Forrester League.

The three Junior Leagues, for under-11s, u13 and u15s, demonstrate that a good number of young players are entering the sport but also that there is a good spread of ability around the clubs.

Baker Tilly Isle of Man Cronkbourne currently lead the Under-15 League, while Hannan Law Crosby and Ramsey slug it for the lead in the u13s.

Crosby continue to do well in the u11s also.
