Hannan Law Crosby play their biggest game of the Premiership season so far on Saturday when they host Shimmin Wilson Peel and St John’s.

The Marown side have won all five of their games to date and I do hope that they can get their strongest team out to ensure a good contest at the Memorial Playing Fields.

Crosby’s batsmen are in good form, especially Danny Kniveton, and they bowl well as a team. PSJ have been quiet so far this season and I am sure that they are keen to get their title challenge back on track.

PSJ players such as Ollie Webster and Alex Williamson will be itching to get some runs under their belts.

Valkyres will hope to build upon their win against the Development XI and cement their top-four place when they take on CTH Insurance Ramsey at Tromode.

Previous games between these two clubs have been close in recent years and hopefully another exciting contest is in store.

Ramsey have batsmen who can score quickly if your bowling is not up to scratch, but Valkyres will hope that their own batsmen can back up recent century maker Shahid Rafique to ensure the win.

Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill welcome Newfield Castletown to their Ballafletcher ground on Saturday.

Mid-summer means the Parish Walk, and I believe the Finch Hill side may be depleted somewhat as Joe and Tom Burrows are partaking in the arduous event.

That will be a shame as Finch Hill have been building a stronger team over recent weeks.

If both clubs can muster decent teams, it could be an interesting game, notwithstanding the poor condition of the outfield at Ballafletcher.

Cronkbourne have another busy Sunday, where they play a weekend league game versus the Development XI and a Blincoe Cup tie.

A splitting of Cronkbourne’s resources may help both the Development XI and Cronkbourne’s Blincoe opponent Union Mills.

Mills can call, hopefully, upon some big hitters such as Bruce Wagstaffe and Chris Nash but Cronkbourne may be too strong for both sides.

Finally, there is a healthy cricket scene outside of the weekend games and the Monday Forrester T20 League is no exception.

Ten teams play regularly, and Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill are sitting proudly on top with five wins from five matches.

With thanks to Malcolm Wenn for his detailed report, there was a cracking game on Monday when Finch Hill played Newfield Castletown.

Both teams played a hugely enjoyable game of cricket in the right spirit.

Jack Newbery and Richard Jackson shared a 50 partnership as Castletown got to 124, but it could have been a lot more but for enthusiastic fielding by Finch Hill.

Charlie Beard made a well-crafted 48 not out and young Christian Webster scored his highest total so far in Senior cricket making 28 including a huge six.

Finch Hill won the close game in the 20th over by four wickets.
