There was another fantastic performance from David Mullarkey at the Telford 10-kilometre run on Sunday, writes David Griffiths.

Having recently produced what was believed to have been a new Isle of Man junior 10km record in the Leeds Abbey Dash, the course was later found to be slightly short.

This time he ran even faster on a long-established course in Shropshire.

There should be no problems with the measurement on this occasion, so assuming it is ratified his time of 30min 07sec lops a full 61 seconds off Keith Gerrard’s junior (under-20) Isle of Man record.

Mullarkey ran the opening 5km in 14m 48s, inside his 5km personal best on roads, and hung on strongly to complete the second half in 15.19 to finish in 23rd place overall.
