Dominic Herbertson claimed his maiden victory around the Mountain Course in Monday afternoon’s delayed and shortened Locate.im Junior Classic TT.

In a dramatic three-lap contest, last year’s winner Michael Rutter set the early pace on Ripley Land Racing 350 Honda, but a rear-wheel puncture on lap two brought his race to a premature end.

Herbertson took advantage to take to the top of the corrected time charts, eventually bringing home the Davies Motorsport Honda just over 10 seconds ahead of Jamie Coward.

Coward on the Ted Woof Honda had jostled with Rutter on the road for the first half of the race. He would finish nearly two minutes ahead of Saturday’s Lightweight Classic winner Lee Johnston (Davies Motorsport Honda).

The latter overhauled Alan Oversby on the last lap to land the final podium place, with Dan Cooper completing the top five.

An elated Herbertson said after the race: ’I’m over the moon to day today is my day.

’It’s a feeling like no other - I’ve worked so hard for this.

’This feeling is not going to go away any time soon.’Full report in Tuesday's Examiner.
