As a result of the Isle of Man FA under-18s being in FA County Youth Cup action this weekend (see above), there are only two games taking place in the Canada Life Premier League.
Despite the much reduced fixture programme, the games that go ahead could have a significant impact at the bottom of the top-flight standings.
Newly-promoted Braddan could all but secure their place in the Premier League next season should they beat St John’s at Mullen-e-Cloie.
The Swans have been catching the eye since their return to the top flight and have already amassed nine points from their opening five games. The expected target for safety from relegation is usually around the 12 to 14-point mark so Will Smith’s charges could move to within sight of that mark with only a quarter of the season played.
It will certainly not be an easy game though, as St John’s are level on points with Braddan and lie fourth in the table with Railway Cup qualification in their crosshairs so a close game should be in store.
Another of the teams expected to feature in the battle against relegation this season is Colby who face a tricky trip to DHSOB.
The Moonlighters have only four points from six games and need to drag themselves away from the dreaded dropzone.
Old Boys will start this match as favourites at Blackberry Lane but Wayne Kennedy’s men are only three points ahead in the table so this one could go either way.
