Isle of Man Football Association has announced that Brian Cowin has been named as the new manager for the IoMFA women’s representative team with immediate effect.
Cowin is one of the most successful managers in the history of women’s football in the island, having claimed numerous honours during his time in charge of Douglas Royal.
He guided the Ballafletcher to the treble in 2008-09 - Division One title, Floodlit Cup and FA Cup - therefore helping them become the first side to compete a treble in local women’s football.
After the deal was announced, Cowin commented: ’I’ve been in and around women’s football in the island for over 10 years, so to get the role as IoMFA women’s manager is a great honour.
’I know how much these girls really want to win and how hard they are prepared to work to progress. I feel there are exciting times ahead.’
IoMFA chief executive officer Frank Stennett has spoken of his delight at the deal:
’We are really pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Cowin as the Isle of Man women’s representative team manager.
’Brian has a wealth of experience within the women’s game in the island and, during the interview process, proved himself as a very capable manager with a considerable amount of commitment and undoubted passion for the role.
’All at the IoMFA wish Brian and his coaching team our very best wishes as he looks to build on the success of the team acquiring silver medals at the NatWest Island Games in Gotland last year.’
