It’s quarter-final time in the Keystone Law Hospital Cup this Saturday and the draw has conspired to produce some intriguing ties.

For the cup romantics looking for a shock result, Division Two side Marown’s trip to top-flight Douglas Athletic could produce just that. Up until their mid-week defeat by Union Mills, Dave Brew’s side have been in fine fettle, beating Premier League Douglas Royal 4-1 in a previous round.

Douglas Athletic seem to be finding their feet under new manager Craig Purvis, but have only kept three clean sheets all season a stat that will offer hope to a free-scoring Marown that have only failed to score in once so far this term.

The only other second-tier team left in the competition are Malew. They face a much sterner test when they host southern rivals Rushen United for the first time in many a season.

Malew warmed up for the tie by taking a point of promotion-chasing Pulrose, but will do well to get anything out of this one.

St George’s continue their cup defence with a tricky trip to St John’s.

Both teams will go into the tie high on confidence having both secured big wins over Peel in the past week. The pair drew 3-3 last time they met in November, Geordies scrambling a late equaliser. This game will be tight, with Geordies perhaps just edging it.

FA Cup winners Corinthians continue their Grand Slam bid with a trip to the Bowl and St Mary’s.

Another close match looks on the cards, with this competition providing Alex Harrison’s hosts with a last shot of silverware.

l There’s a big game Premier League on Saturday as the bottom two, Braddan and Ramsey, go head-to-head. A win for either would go a long way in securing survival.
