New league leaders Foxdale face a potentially tough fixture against Marown in JCK Division Two this weekend.
While the Premier League sees a reduced programme on Saturday as a result of the Isle of Man FA’s under-18s squad in County Cup action, there’s a full gamut of games in the second division.
Foxdale are the only side remaining with a 100 per cent winning record in Division Two this season with four wins from four and lie first by virtue of a better goal difference than second-placed Pulrose United who have played one game more.
Marown, though, will certainly be no pushovers this weekend despite going up against the league’s joint highest scorers.
Dave Brew’s Crosby side go into the game having beaten Governor’s Athletic 6-2 in their previous game, prior to last Saturday’s game with Castletown being postponed.
Somewhat ironically, hosts Foxdale also go into this weekend’s game on the back of a 6-2 win over Governor’s and, with home advantage, they will be expected to maintain their good form.
Having enjoyed a week off, previous leaders RYCOB return to action at home to Douglas and District.
Youthie will certainly start as favourites but D&D defeated the northerners last time they met when Daniel Stewart-Clague’s goal was enough to give them a 1-0 win in the FA Cup in February. Can lightning strike twice?
A couple of intriguing games could be in store in Andreas and at the Nivison Stadium this weekend where Ayre United and Onchan take on Malew and Union Mills respectively.
The first match in the north of the island looks on paper to be a close affair, with only a point separating the two teams in the table. Home advantage may just give Ayre an edge but, like the hosts, Malew will be also desperate to get back to winning ways after losing last week.
A win for Onchan could see them leap into the top four but it will be easier said than done against a Mills side that plundered seven goals versus Ayre in their last game so this one could go either way.
There’s a bottom-of-the-table clash at Balleira Road where Michael Utd host Gymns, while Pulrose will be favourites to get the better of visitors Governor’s.
