A couple of the top-flight’s stragglers have the chance to claw back some ground on the teams above them this weekend.

Bottom side Pulrose United currently sit three points adrift from the rest in the Canada Life Premier League’s sole relegation spot.

Pully have only claimed one point all term, in a 3-3 draw with Laxey, but could add to that this Saturday against a DHSOB side that only triumphed 4-2 in the reverse fixture.

Old Boys lost in the cup to a Ramsey side that sits just above Pully in the league last week and have only won two of their last six.

Pully couldn’t field a side against Geordies in the Cup, but should regroup to give this one a good go at Blackberry Lane.

Marown sit three points better off than Pully alongside the aforementioned Ramsey and Douglas Royal.

The Crosby side host Old Boys’ fellow mid-table outfit Douglas Athletic this weekend. Like DHSOB, Athletic lost in the FA Cup last weekend, slipping out of the competition 1-0 at the hands of second-tier Colby.

Pinks boss Craig Purvis will be keen for his side to bounce back as they aim to better the 30 points they finished last season with.

Surprisingly Marown have yet to score in their four league games at home this season and will need to remedy this if they are to add to their top-flight survival fund.

Douglas Royal host St Mary’s at Ballafletcher, with the latter side beginning to build up a bit of a cushion at the head of the standings.

Ramsey also face a tough test when they host Corinthians at Ballacloan.

The Whites only won the reverse fixture 2-0 though and this maybe a closer game than first appears.

Rushen United will be eager to keep the pressue on at the top of the table when they host Laxey.

United lost to Old Firm rivals Peel in their last league outing to slip from second to fourth in a congested top-half. Laxey’s form has yet to hit the heights of the first half of the campaign and the Spaniards will start this one as favourites.
