Castletown and Braddan will meet in this season’s GH Corlett Woods Cup final after winning their respective semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.
In two high-scoring affairs, Town defeated Gymns 7-2 at the Stadium while the Swans got the better of Pulrose United at Victoria Road 6-2.
The game in the south of the island was marred by a serious injury to Gymns goalkeeper James Brown who suffered a suspected broken leg after only two minutes of the contest.
After a 20-minute delay the action finally resumed and, as expected, it was the hosts who settled into their stride quicker.
The deadlock was broken when Ash Sansbury’s inswinging corner deceived everyone and nestled into the back of the net, before Dan McLaughlin doubled their advantage soon after despite vehement appeals for offside by Gymns.
The visitors found a way back into the tie when former Castletown man Jordan Cooper netted from the spot, only for McLaughlin to brilliantly fire an acrobatic effort past stand-in keeper Nick Ford right on the stroke of half-time for 3-1.
Further goals from Chris Hawthorne and a hat-trick from substitute Alex Crawley saw Town race away with the victory in the second half as they romped to a 7-2 win, with an own goal pulling another back for Gymns.
There was controversy in the other game as Pulrose United went 1-0 up through Darren Flanagan before being reduced to 10 men when Craig Cowin was shown a straight red for allegedly handling the ball on the line despite appeals that it hit his chest.
Andy Glover duly punished Pully by helping himself to a hat-trick and he was joined on the scoresheet by a Stuart Pacey brace and a Mike Hutton strike.
Braddan were also reduced to 10 men in the second half when Jamie Delaney was given his marching orders and Barry English pulled a goal back from the spot but it proved too little too late as the Swans eased to a 6-2 win.
In the Canada Life Premier League, Union Mills’ long-expected relegation to JCK Division Two was finally confirmed as the Millers were thumped 9-0 by Peel in Colby.
In his last game for the club before moving to Australia, Ash Webster sealed the Golden Boot award with an impressive four-goal haul, while he was joined by Daniel Bell (2), Daniel Lace, Ryan Holdaway and an own goal.
That result mean that Ramsey were safe from the drop irrespective of their result at home to third-placed St Mary’s which was just as well as the Saints eased to a 4-0 victory at Ballacloan Stadium.
Champions St George’s ended their league campaign with a 2-0 win at near-neighbours DHSOB as goals from Chris Bass Jr and Jack McVey secured all three points for the Grand Slam chasers.
The sole game in JCK Division Two saw Marown boost their hopes of a place in the end-of-season Gold Cup with a 5-0 win at home to Douglas and District.
Brothers Ali (2) and Stuart Morris were both on the scoresheet while Ash Heginbotham also grabbed a brace.
