Colby produced the result of the day as they defeated Premier League side Douglas Athletic in the ECAP FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The JCK Division Two leaders were tipped to upset their top flight opponents and duly delivered, clinching a dramatic 1-0 win over the Pinks courtesy of Luke Roberts’ 87th minute winner.

Fellow second division high-flyers Ayre United also produced a battling performance but ultimately they went down 3-1 at home to Premier League champions St Mary’s.

Jack McVey gave the Saints an early lead from the penalty spot before the returning-from-injury Josh Kelly doubled their advantage before half-time.

Dean Tate halved the deficit for the Tangerines from the penalty spot but Craig Murphy ensured victory for the visitors with a third in the last minute.

Ramsey produced an impressive performance to see off DHSOB 2-1 at Ballacloan Stadium to book their place in the next round courtesy of Chris Duggan’s brace, despite Johnny Quirk opening the scoring early on for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Foxdale put up a brave showing at home to Premier League heavyweights Rushen United at Billy Goat Park.

Captain Ste Riding’s acrobatic effort gave the Spaniards the lead which was doubled right on the stroke of half-time when Greg Norris headed home Matty Lamb’s cross.

The same player grabbed his second soon after the interval with a half-volley but Foxdale nearly reduced the deficit when Jay Chatwood forced a fine save from Dean Kearns while Kevin Pulman also hit the crossbar, but in the end Rushen ran out 3-0 winners.

Cup holders Peel proved too strong for second division Onchan, claiming a 6-2 victory at the Nivison Stadium.

The Os frustrated the westerners early on - indeed it was only 3-2 at half-time - but Peel’s superior fitness told as a brace from Dan Simpson plus further strikes from Danny Lane, Kerron Christian, Jack Elliott and an own goal sealed victory.

The games between St George’s v Pulrose United and Douglas Royal v Malew were called off as both visiting teams were unable to field a side.

Away from the FA Cup, a fine second-half performance from St John’s saw them run out convincing 6-1 winners over Braddan at Mullen-e-Cloie.

Lee Currer netted for the Swans to ensure the sides were level 1-1 at half-time, but a Richard Winn hat-trick plus a brace from Paul Whitehead and a Ray Lovell strike saw the Saints claim the three points.

Union Mills’ title and promotion hopes received a blow as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Michael United.

Jordan Crawley gave the Millers the perfect start by opening the scoring in the very first minute, before Jack Murray added another after half-time, but goals from Michael Perks and Ciaran McNulty snatched a draw for the Aces.

The points were also shared in Tromode where Gymns and Douglas & District played out a 1-1 draw. Mark Quirk gave the visitors the lead in the 15th minute but the home side equalised late on.
