JCK Division Two side Colby stunned their Premier League opponents by racing into a three-goal lead at the Station Fields thanks to goals from Adam Fretwell, Ste McIntosh and Carl Hickey.
However, the Miners struck back through a Stan Manning brace and a Michael Fernandes strike to force extra-time, with Colby being reduced to 10 men when Fretwell was sent off late.
Laxey appeared to put one foot in the semis when Fernandes gave them a lead in the first half of the additional 30 minutes, only for Hickey to level matters.
With penalties looming, Hickey popped up to complete his hat-trick in the dying minutes to seal a dramatic and remarkable 5-4 win for the southerners.
Elsewhere in the FA Cup quarter-finals, St George’s were in ruthless form as they knocked out holders Corinthians at Ballafletcher.
Despite the eventual 6-0 scoreline, the game was a close affair until just before halftime when Whites defender Ryan Burns was shown a straight red card following a foul on Joey Morling.
It wasn’t long before Geordies made their numerical advantage count as they netted twice on the stroke of halftime through Chris Bass Jr and Joel Ibanez.
Corinthians briefly threatened a fight back after the break but when the Saints netted a third through Maleigh Freestone, the floodgates opened.
Ibanez soon added his second of the game following good work from Furo Davies, before Bass did likewise.
And the Saints completed the victory in injury time when Ciaran McNulty netted the rebound from a Johnny Myers effort.
The other remaining last-eight tie saw Premier League leaders St Mary’s edge past DHSOB at Blackberry Lane 2-1 courtesy of goals from Jack McVey and substitute Luke Booth.
