Colby produced one of the shocks of the first round as they knocked out DHSOB in the Craig Heartstrong Foundation Hospital Cup on Sunday evening.

Despite going into the match as underdogs, the Moonlighters defied the odds to beat Old Boys 2-1, their first success in three attempts over the Blackberry Lane outfit this season.

Second division side RYCOB put up a brave fight away at top flight heavyweights Corinthians, battling until the end but eventually going down 3-0 thanks to Sean Doyle’s double plus a Chris Cannell strike.

Rushen United were pushed all the way in their match away at St John’s, with only extra-time being able to separate the two sides.

Ryan Crawley gave the Spaniards a first-half lead but they were pegged back by Rhys Oates’s equaliser, only for Matty Cain to seal a dramatic win for the visitors with a goal in the second half of extra-time.

Peel booked their place in the next round of the competition but were also pushed hard by a resilient Union Mills at Garey Mooar.

Despite losing 9-0 to the westerners only a few weeks ago, relegated Mills proved a much tougher proposition this time around as they grabbed a goal through Jordan Crawley, only for a Kerron Christian double to see the Sunset City side safely through.

St George’s were the biggest winners of the day as they brushed aside Governor’s Athletic 13-0 at Glencrutchery Road, while Laxey also romped to a big 7-1 victory at home to Ayre United.

Marown bounced back to form with an impressive win 6-1 at home to Onchan in a match switched from the Nivison Stadium, while Douglas Athletic avoided a cupset as they saw off the stern challenge of Division Two side Gymns in Tromode.
