There’s a big game at the top of the Canada Life Premier League this weekend.

Leaders Corinthians take on third-place Peel at Ballafletcher in a test of the Whites’ 100 per cent start.

The westerners have won their last four after a narrow opening-day defeat against Rushen. However, call-ups to the Isle of Man FA’s representative squads has meant that Steve Falconer’s westerner haven’t kicked a ball in anger for nearly a month.

This break has allowed youngster Billy Kennaugh to get some games, and goals, for the combi following injury and he should be firmly in the selection mix for Saturday’s game. Sitting the game out though will be club stalwart Marc Kelly who injured his hamstring while away with the FA squad in Glasgow last week.

Corinthians had six players involved at the Umbro Quadrangular, including new caps Adam Killey, Tom Callister, Cameron Lee and Stephen Whitley. With striker Sean Doyle also returning to fitness after a knee injury Danny McMahon’s side will go into this encounter in confident mood and this may just give them the edge.

Reigning champions St George’s recent schedule has also been effected by call-ups and they too haven’t played since September 23.

Geordies will aim to get the ball rolling again this week by extending their own 100 per cent start to the campaign at struggling Colby.

A close game looks on the cards at Glen Road, where Laxey welcome Douglas Athletic. The latter picked up their first win of the season last weekend in some style, beating St Mary’s 6-0.

The Miners haven’t won in four and may cough up some points for the Pinks.

Braddan’s home encoutner with DHSOB should also be a tight one, the latter picking up a bit of form in recent weeks.

The current bottom two Ramsey and Douglas Royal will do well to add to survival finds this weekend with tough games against St John’s and Rushen respectively.

The Johnners are up to fourth after going four unbeaten and will start favourites against a Ballacloan side that has lost its last three.

Bottom side Royal, who have conceded 33 goals in only seven games, will have it all to do against a free-scoring Rushen side.
