Corinthians and StGeorge’s will renew their rivalry at the Bowl this Saturday when they battle for glory in the Keystone Law Hospital Cup.

It will be the second time in just under two weeks that the teams meet, having gone head-to-head on Tuesday of last week when Geordies triumphed 2-1 to clinch yet another Canada Life Premier League title.

The two rivals are also set to play each other in the final of the Railway Cup next Wednesday having safely negotiated their way past the semi-finals on Tuesday.

Geordies are sweating on the fitness of some of their star players following their dramatic penalty shootout win against Peel. They are hopeful that Chris Bass Jr will be fit enough to start despite sustaining a nasty cut on his knee, while Sam Caine came off in extra-time with a twisted knee and will therefore be assessed later in the week.

Johnny Myers has missed the last two games with a calf injury but is very close to a return and may feature, while Joel Ibanez - who has impressed in recent weeks - and Jay Skelcher-Maxwell will be pushing for a starting position if Bass and Caine aren’t passed fit.

The likes of Cameron Kay, Malleigh Freestone and Tom Chatel have all been in fine form for the Saints in the Cowell Cup and will therefore be hoping to claim a place in the squad for Saturday should they impress in tonight’s semi-final.

Team news from Corinthians was sparse at the time of going to press but the Whites will go into the match brimming with confidence.

It’s been an excellent season for the Ballafletcher side under the guidance of Danny McMahon, building upon last season’s second-place finish to mount a sustained title challenge against Geordies.

They have also added silverware to their trophy cabinet this year in the shape of the FA Cup - their first major trophy - and are also in the aforementioned Railway Cup final next week.

Whether or not they win in their two finals, the Whites are heading in the right direction, but McMahon will be desperate to end the season with another trophy in the Ballafletcher clubhouse.

Kickoff at the Bowl is 2pm on Saturday.
