Corinthians moved 10 points clear at the top of the Canada Life Premier League as Manx football returned to action after the circuit-breaker lockdown.

The Whites came from behind to get the better of nearest rivals Rushen United in a high-scoring contest at Ballafletcher.

The Spaniards raced into an early 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Jack Camarda and Jamie Johnston, before Dan Simpson pulled a goal back for the hosts.

Camarda soon restored the visitors’ two-goal advantage, only for Simpson to once again halve the deficit before half-time to leave the match finely balanced.

After the break though, Corinthians turned the game on its head with two goals in four minutes from Luke Murray and Sean Doyle just after the hour mark.

The Whites then made sure of all three points thanks to a second goal from Doyle before Danny Gerrard rounded off the scoring in injury time to seal a 6-3 victory.

On a day when the recent heavy rain caused a plethora of postponements across the various leagues, only two other games went ahead in the Premier League.

There was another high-scoring battle on the adjacent pitch at Ballafletcher where Douglas Royal claimed a potentially vital win in their mission to stave off relegation.

The home side edged past Ramsey by the odd goal in seven courtesy of goals from Tom Chatel, Johnny Quirk with two and Dominic McHarrie-Brennan.

The Whites had to hold off a spirited fightback from the northerners though as Ramsey hit back from 4-0 down before falling just short of snatching a point.

The other top flight game to go ahead saw Peel record an important win of their own with a narrow 1-0 success over Douglas Athletic, Lee Gale netting the winner from the penalty spot deep into the second half.

Only two games went ahead in JCK Division Two, with second-placed RYCOB winning emphatically 6-0 away at Douglas and District - no details of the scorers have been received.

Likewise, no details of the other match between Pulrose United v Colby are available at the time of writing.
