DHSOB secured their third consecutive Canada Life Combination One championship on Tuesday evening after brushing aside St John’s Utd 9-0 under the floodlights at Mullen-e-Cloie.

Although the hosts did have their moments, the Blackberry Lane outfit were in ruthless form, taking the lead after 12 minutes following a shot that was deflected into the Johnners’ net for an own goal.

Michael Booth added their second three minutes later, weaving his way through the opposing defence before finishing with a low shot.

Phil Knox added a third on 20 minutes after he intercepted a defensive clearance and returned the ball into the net.

Former DHSOB player Adam Menton directed a header into his own net for Old Boys’ fourth with another own goal, before Booth stroked home a penalty into the bottom right for their fifth just before the intermission.

It took DHSOB only seven minutes after the interval to get on the scoresheet again, Nigel Moody latching onto a diagonal through-ball before rounded the goalkeeper to sweep into an empty net.

Adam Boyde netted their seventh following a promising attack when he drove a low shot into the bottom right before Drew Ward directed home a header following a corner to make it 8-0.

It was left to Booth to complete his hat-trick when he ran into space following a ball over the top and guided his shot into the onion bag to round off a rampant 9-0 win before the final whistle sparked jubilant scenes from the Blackberry Lane outfit.
