FC Isle of Man is set to travel to the Channel Islands next month to play a rematch against Guernsey FC on September 12.

The two clubs met at the Bowl last weekend for the Ravens’ inaugural first match, with the Manx side winning 1-0 courtesy of Jack McVey’s first-half penalty.

With the air bridge between the two islands proving successful so far, the Green Lions have invited FC Isle of Man to play a return match at their Footes Lane home.

Although both clubs are still waiting for confirmation when their respective league systems will start, this is an opportunity for both teams to play another friendly fixture in preparation for the season ahead.

Chris Bass, FC Isle of Man manager, commented: ‘I am absolutely delighted and excited at the opportunity to play Guernsey FC once again and in such a short space of time as well. We are all incredibly grateful to them for inviting us.

‘It was a very good game at the Bowl last week and I was delighted with our performance so I am really interested to see if our lads can maintain that level in this return fixture.’

FC IoM captain Frank Jones added: ‘It’s amazing that the opportunity to play Guernsey FC again has come round so quickly. Also, It’s a really important chance for both clubs to prepare for the season ahead.

‘It was a great feeling to put the FC Isle of Man shirt on for the first time against them last week and I am looking forward to the opportunity of doing it again.’

Nic Legg, Guernsey FC director, said: ‘After the friendships we made in the Isle of Man we couldn’t wait to welcome the Ravens to Guernsey and hope that, just like the Manxies did, Guernsey FC fans will turn out in numbers to make it a celebration of our club’s first home game since February.’
