The 13th Team of the Week of the Canada Life Premier League proves lucky for some with five making their debut in the hypothetical XI.

Despite the wet and windy weather, all four of Saturday’s scheduled top-flight games went ahead.

Two of this week’s first timers shone in the same fixture at Glen Road, as Laxey struck late to beat Marown 3-2.

Impressing in a slightly unfamiliar defensive midfield role was the hosts’ Jeremy Lovett, who makes his maiden TotW appearance of the campaign after shining against his former club.

Also catching the eye in that match was another of the selection’s debutants, Marown winger Adam Mealin, as the Crosby team narrowly missed out on securing a valubale point in the race to beat the drop.

Dave Brew’s side came away with no points thanks to the performance of home goalkeeper Rob Slinger.

The ex-Pulrose stopper, edges Old Boys’ keeper Dean Kinley for the number one jersey after producing several top saves to deny Marown a share of the spoils and earn himself his second TotW stripes of the term.

Lining up in front of Slinger in the latest selection is two more of this week’s debutants.

St George’s youngster Joel Ibanez makes his first TotW outing of the season after helping Geordies up to third with a 4-0 win over near neighbours DHSOB.

Adam Pate is the fourth member of this week’s first-timers club, the Pulrose United full-back doing well in Saturday’s Springfield Road derby defeat at the hands of Douglas Athletic.

Ramsey’s Dominic Parish completes the side’s defensive ranks after doing well for the northerners in Saturday’s defeat at the hands of table-toppers St Mary’s.

The fifth and final debutant this week also impressed in that match.

Douglas Athletic midfielder Lee Ford capped a solid all-round display with a goal and the Man of the Match honours as the Pinks leapfrogged his old club DHSOB in the table.

Slotting in alongside Ford and Mealin in the TotW’s midfield ranks are St Mary’s Frank Jones and St George’s Joey Quayle.

The latter was the star of the show for Geordies in their 4-0 win, grabbing a hat-trick for Chris Bass Sr’s men.

Jones makes a sixth TotW outing of the term as the Saints beat a resilient Ramsey 3-1 at the Bowl thanks to his goal and a brace from Craig Murphy.

Jones’s club-mate Sammy Gelling also caught the eye of the TotW selectors in that game to earn his second stripes of the season.

Completing the line-up is St George’s talisman Chris Bass Jr who was one of Geordies standout performers as they made it five home wins out of six this season.

Referee of the Week for a second time this season is Darren Flanagan who had a good game in the middle as Laxey beat Marown.
