Braddan’s memorable season got even better on Wednesday evening as they beat Gymns 6-3 to secure the JCK Division Two title.

After a tentative start from the Victoria Road side, Jamie Delaney eased the nerves in the 10th minute, heading home a huge throw in for his first goal of the season.

Gymnasium could have equalised a minute later when Jordan Cooper’s effort struck the crossbar.

However, Braddan started to assert their authority, doubling their lead on 35 minutes following a foul in the opposing box. Conor Dempsey made no mistake from the penalty spot against his former club.

Braddan continued to press which resulted in a third. Michael Hutton received a through-ball, the jet-heeled winger raced towards the opposing goal before placing his shot into the bottom corner.

In the 38th minute Hutton struck again latching onto another through-ball before cutting inside and placing his shot into the goal to make it 4-0.

Gymnasium did pull a goal back in the 41st minute when Tom Callow side-footed home a cross from the right.

However, Stuart Pacey found the net for Braddan’s fifth in added time in the first half, collecting Dempsey’s excellent cross-field pass before sweeping his effort home.

Braddan’s captain Joseph Andrews opened for scoring for the hosts in the second half, flicking a header home to make it 6-1.

The visitors then struck again for the second time after the hour mark, Sean Shimmin cutting in from the left before driving home an angled shot.

Gymnasium completed the scoring with a consolation in added time courtesy of close-range effort from Richard Winn.

IoMFA Treasurer Stephen Carter gave a short speech congratulating Braddan on their success this season before presenting medals to the players and the Division Two title to their captain Andrews.

Having already secured the Woods Cup, Braddan will try and complete a second-tier treble in Sunday’s Paul Henry Gold Cup final against Onchan.

Foxdale beat western rivals Michael United 7-0 in the evening’s other Division Two match.

On target for Dale were Jay Chatwood (2), Jack Smith (2), Callan Wade (2) and Liam Cannan.
