The Isle of Man FA brought their latest Umbro Quadrangular campaign to a close with a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Scotland JFA in Glasgow this afternoon.

Dean Hoskins and Graham Wilson gave the hosts a two-goal lead in the first half only for St George’s Sean Quaye to pull a goal back with a header at a corner on the stroke of half-time.

Neither team could add to their tally in the second half meaning Northern Ireland, who beat the Republic of Ireland in the day’s other match, won the tournament on goal difference.

Only two of the weekend’s Canada Life Premier League games went ahead in the end, St John’s beating Douglas Royal 9-2 under the floodlights of Mullen-e-Cloie on Friday evening.

Douglas Athletic won the top-flight’s sole game on Saturday scoring an impressive 6-0 win over near-neighbours St Mary’s.

The Pinks scored all six of their goals inside the game’s first half-hour, Mikey Callister grabbing the lion’s share with a hat-trick. Joining him on the scoresheet were Danny Pennington, Martin Cowan and Daniel Sherry.

Pulrose have gone top of JCK Division Two after they beat promotion rivals Castletown 4-2.

Silver Boot contender Stephen Glover netted a brace, while there were further goals for Barry English and skipper Craig Cowin.

Pully are now two points ahead of Foxdale at the top of the standings, but have played two games more than Dale who didn’t play today.

RYCOB suffered a shock 2-1 loss at the hands of Union Mills. Luke Booth netted an early penalty for Mills before Colin Gerrard scored the game’s decisive goal at the death.

A brace from Ash Heginbotham and a goal from Ali Morris saw Marown score a good 3-0 win at Ayre

Elsewhere Onchan beat Governor’s Athletic 3-2 and Malew overcame Michael United 5-3.

Gymns remain without a point at the foot of the division after Douglas and District defeated them 4-2 at Noble’s Park. On the scoresheet for D and D were Ben Hall, Dale Kenna, Danny Scott and Owen Stewart.
