The Isle of Man FA’s under-18s have been knocked out of the FA County Youth Cup after losing to Norfolk at a freezing Bowl on Saturday evening.
The visitors triumphed 2-1 in the quarter-final tie that went to extra time.
Lewis Johnson headed Norfolk ahead 32 minutes into a scrappy first half.
The Manx improved after the break, but failed to really test visiting keeper Billy Johnson until injury time when Laxey winger Matty Wilkinson smashed home a dramatic late equaliser.
Wilkinson’s strike sent the last-eight encounter into the additional 30 minutes. Lewis Qualtrough’s home side appeared to be edging the game as their opponents tired, but Charlie Hitch rose highest to nod in Joshua Ford’s free-kick midway through the second period of extra time to seal his side’s place in the semi-finals.
Full match report and reaction from Isle of Man coach Qualtrough in Tuesday’s Examiner.
