Tom Wood gave Peel fans a Christmas to remember as his injury time winner ensured the westerners beat rivals St George’s 3-2 to lift the BOS Railway Cup.
Wood’s 93rd minute goal ensured a dramatic finish to an entertaining Boxing Day clash and clinched Steve Falconer’s side the prestigious trophy for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
The move to Corinthians’ pitch because of the Bowl’s temporary closure didn’t stop large numbers turning up to watch a good game between two of Manx football’s heavyweights.
Geordies took an opening-minute lead through Ciaran McNulty only for goals from Lee Gale and Daniel Bell to put the westerners ahead at the break.
The tie’s momentum swung again at the start of the second 45 as McNulty slotted home a second to drag his side back into the match.
With extra time looming though, full-back Wood lashed in a cross from the left that found the net via the back post to spark wild celebrations among the vocal Peel support.
