St Mary’s, Laxey, St George’s and Rushen United maintained their 100 per cent starts to the Canada Life Premier League season on Saturday afternoon.

Geordies were forced to battle hard to overcome a resilient DHSOB and Blackberry Lane but eventually emerged 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Jay Skelcher-Maxwell, Furo Davies and Sean Quaye. Dean France netted Old Boys’ consolation.

Laxey continued their impressive start to the new campaign as they ran out 4-0 winners away at Marown.

Summer signing Jordan Cooper maintained his scoring streak with another two goals and was joined on the scoresheet by Max Murley and Will Berquist.

Adam Adebiyi starred for St Mary’s as he bagged a brace to help the defending champions record a 4-0 win away at Ramsey, the other goals coming via Dan Hattersley - his 10th of the season already - and Karl Clark.

Jamie Johnston stole the show for Rushen United as the Spaniards romped to a 6-1 win away at Douglas Royal.

Johnston helped himself to a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Mike Williams, Matty Lamb and Ryan Crawley.

Douglas Athletic came out on top in a high-scoring derby against neighbours Pulrose United at Springfield Road as a brace from Mikey Callister helped the Pinks record a 5-3 victory.

In JCK Division Two, Foxdale recorded an excellent 5-1 victory over rivals St John’s at Billy Goat Park.

Andy Williamson, Liam Parker, Stephen Bettridge, Antony Corkill and new signing Will Penhallurick all netted for the hosts, while Callum Taggart scored a late consolation for the Saints.

Union Mills were in ruthless form as they thrashed Onchan 9-1 at Garey Mooar, led by a five-goal haul from Luke Booth.

Jordan Crawley also helped himself to a hat-trick while Richie Cannell also got in on the act.

There was a rare victory for the mighty Governor’s Athletic who got the better of Gymns in a high-scoring game in Tromode, the Bemahague side triumphing by the odd goal in seven.

By contrast, there was a low-scoring affair at Noble’s Park where Braddan edged past Douglas and District thanks to a solitary Lee Currer goal.

RYCOB were in fine form as they saw off the challenge of a plucky Malew side 4-0 at Scoill ree Gorree.

Ayre United ran out 5-1 winners away at Michael United thanks to a late flurry of goals. Despite missing several key players, Michael took the lead through Kieran Quinn’s expert volley early in the second half, but an own goal plus strikes from Matty Skillicorn and Johnny Shields turned the game in the Tangerines’ favour.

As Michael tired, Ayre added some gloss to the scoreline with both Shields and Skillicorn doubling their respective tallies on the stroke of full-time.
