The scoreline flattered Dale who had to defend for large spells of the encounter at Billy Goat Park, but the win was deserved nonetheless.
Only a couple of superb saves from Dale keeper Stuart Fayle had kept the scores goal-less at half-time. Robbie Jack’s hosts continued to soak up the pressure and broke the deadlock when substitute Liam Cannan rifled in Fayle’s booming free-kick from his own half with 69 minutes played.
Cannan had a hand in his side’s second seizing possession in midfield before playing in Matty Moffatt who slotted who him side’s second nine minutes later.
Fayle then topped a Man of the Match performance against his old club when his free-kick from just outside his own area found its way in to spark jubilant scenes among his team-mates and Foxdale support.
As Youthie reeled, sub Ste Oliver curled home a fourth from distance to wrap up the points in style and ensure the visitors suffered a third straight defeat.
