St George’s brought their Canada Life Premier League campaign at Glencrutchery Road to a close with a 5-0 win over St Mary’s on Saturday.
Geordies sealed a record seventh a couple of weeks ago, but ensured their last home game of the league season was a memorable one as they won thanks to a hat-trick from Ciaran McNulty and single strikes from Calum Morrissey and Joey Morling.
St Mary’s, who had midfielder James Murphy sent off, remain in second place in the standings, 18 points behind St George’s.
Elsewhere, Union Mills hopes of staying in the Premier League beyond the end of the season took a blow as they were held to a 1-1 draw by already relegated Ayre United in the latter’s last match of the league season.
Mills now trail third bottom Colby by seven points ahead of the two sides’ forthcoming double-header.
Colby themselves were beaten 7-1 by Corinthians, while Ramsey moved above them in the standings after drawing 2-2 at Laxey.
Rushen’s fine end to the season continued as they overcame Douglas Athletic 5-3 at Springfield Road.
Two of the day’s five GH Corlett Woods Cup prelim round ties went to extra-time, Gymns edging past Malew 1-0 at Clagh Vane and Douglas and District beating Governor’s Athletic 2-1.
Braddan kept their hopes for a second-tier double alive with a 4-0 win over Foxdale, while Pulrose were the day’s big winners beating Michael 6-0.
In the afternoon’s other tie, Onchan overcame Marown 5-2 at Crosby.
