Malew’s Tim Collister is pictured in action against Governor’s Athletic during the two sides’ JCK Combination Two match at Clagh Vane on Wednesday evening.

Ironically, it was two years ago today (Thursday) that Tim become one of the most famous Manx footballers after scoring a wonder strike of a goal that was caught on camcorder only to be ruled out.

This made the head-lines on numerous UK newspaper web-sites.

Wednesday’s match had its fair share of drama too. Located near the basement of the league, Governor’s had taken a one-goal first-half lead through Sam Liver and could have added another only for Tom Chamberlain to miss a penalty.

Malew levelled matters on 54 minutes, Collister’s quick free-kick caught the visitors off-guard, setting up Andy McLarney to chip home an angled strike.

With two minutes to go Governor’s secured all three points when Cameron Comber’s deflected shot made its way into the net. Southern frustrations boiled over in the closing stages and McLarney was sent off for a second bookable offence.
