DHSOB started their defence of the Canada Life Combination One title on Tuesday evening with a 4-2 victory over St John’s United at Mullen-e-Cloie.
A minute’s applause was observed before kick-off in memory of former DHSOB and Onchan AFC chairman John Quirk Sr who died over the weekend.
Dean France gave the defending champions an early lead from the penalty spot before Nigel Moody marked his 25th competitive year in Manx football with a brace before half-time to give the visitors a three-goal cushion.
France netted again after the break for the Blackberry Lane’s side fourth, however, the hosts fought back in the closing stages. Nathan Roberts netted via a speculative strike and Aaron Bradley charged down a clearance into the net for the Johnners’ second.
