The first mid-week fixtures of the Manx football season took place this evening.Rushen United stalwart Aaron Hawley once again proved the scourge of Old Firm rivals Peel as his second-half goal settled the pair's Canada Life Combination One encounter at Douglas Road. There were goals galore elsewhere as St Mary's edged past Corinthians 6-4 and St John's United overcame Castletown 9-2.In the former match, which was switched to Ballafletcher, Kyle Sum-Warrander and Josh Molyneux both bagged hat-tricks for the Saints.Braddan picked up a welcome first win of the season beating Marown 4-0 thanks to braces from Michael Lewis and veteran Geoff Murphy.Combi powerhouses Old Boys also were among the evening's winners beating Douglas Royal 4-1 at Blackberry Lane. On target for the Blues were Mikey Booth, John Quirk, Ryan Healy and Josh Evans against his former club.In JCK Combination Two, former goalkeeper Christian Steriopulos continued his fine form in front of goal following a switch to outfield, as he troubled the scorers twice in Colby's 4-2 win at Onchan. Gymns made it back-to-back victories with a narrow 3-2 win over Pulrose United thanks to goals from the in-form Lewis Thompson, the returning Mark Connor and Jack Cannon.Elsewhere Ayre United beat Douglas and District 3-1, Foxdale overcame Malew 3-6 at Clash Vane and Union Mills triumphed 6-1 over Governor's Athletic. The northern derby between Ramsey and town rivals RYCOB was certainly a lively affair, as four were sent off, two from each side, in the Ballacloan outfit's 5-0 victory.Mike Nixon, Greg Hepburn, Andrew Feeney and Josh Perry all received their marching orders for various misdemeanours.
