The pair drew 1-1 in a hard-fought contest that was hampered by slippy conditions underfoot.
Lee Gale put the visitors ahead midway through the second half, only for Old Boys’ centre-back Martin King to score his second in as many matches to secure his side a share of the spoils with nine minutes left on the clock.
The result leaves the two sides firmly in the mix for a place in the Cu-Plas Railway Cup alongside St George’s, who didn’t play this weekend, Corinthians, who beat St John’s 2-0 at Mullen-e-Cloie and Rushen who triumphed 7-0 over Colby in the southern derby at Croit Lowey.
Goals from Daniel Sherry and Martin Cowan gave Douglas Athletic a third win on the bounce, the Pinks beating Braddan 2-1 at Springfield Road.
Elsewhere Laxey overcame a stubborn Douglas Royal 5-3 at Glen Road, while Alex Harrison kicked off his spell in charge of St Mary’s with a 4-1 over Ramsey.
In JCK Division Two, it’s all change at the top.
Leaders RYCOB slipped to a third defeat of the season as they were beaten 3-2 by Castletown in a fiesty encounter at Scooil Ree Gorree.
Pulrose are the second tier’s new leaders after they edged past Onchan 2-1 at the Nivison. Once again Stephen Glover and Marc Priestnal were on target for the Reds as they move two points clear of Youthie with a game in hand.
Level on points with RYCOB are Foxdale who bounced back from defeat at the hands of Onchan last week with a 5-1 derby win over Michael. On target for Dale were Matty Moffatt, Charlie Harrison (2), Scott Kermeen and Liam Cannan.
In-form Marown had their bubble burst by Douglas and District, D and D picking up their fourth win of the season with a 2-0 win at Noble’s Park - Daniel Clague-Stewart grabbing both the goals.
Another of the division’s form teams, Union Mills, also came unstuck, Malew beating them 4-2 at Garey Mooar thanks to goals from Dale Walker (2), Kieran Krypner and Ash Egan.
Gymns picked up their first win and maiden points of the campaign in emphatic style beating fellow strugglers Governor’s Athletic at Tromode.
On target for the hosts were Cal Peat (3),Ryan Spence, Ross Crawford, Thomas Callin and an own goal.
Daniel Thirlwell struck both Governor’s goals.
