It was another interesting day in the Canada Life Premier League, as the race for a place in the Railway Cup semi-finals took another turn.

St George’s top-four hopes took a knock as they were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by Douglas Athletic at Glencrutchery Road.

Martin Cowan scored for the mid-table Pinks to inflict Geordies’ first home defeat of the season.

St Mary’s remain top as they beat in-form Corinthians 3-1 at the Bowl.

Sean Doyle gave the visitors an early lead but Matty Kent-Lloyd, Frank Jones and Karl Clark struck before the half-time break to wrap up all three points and give the reigning champions a bit of breathing space at the head of the standings. Corinthians remain in third.

Rushen United overcame a stubborn Ramsey 4-2 in the Spaniards’ final first-half of the season match.

The result leaves the Port Erin side in second, but having played a game or two more than their rivals for Railway Cup qualification.

Laxey slipped out of the top four after they were held to a 3-3 draw by bottom side Pulrose United.

Peel leapfrog both St George’s and the Miners into the top four after they came from behind to beat DHSOB 3-1 at Douglas Road thanks to goals from Ryan Holdaway and Dan Simpson (2).

The big game at the foot of the table also saw a comeback. Marown were three goals up at Douglas Royal, only for the Ballafletcher hosts to claw their way back into it and earn a share of the points in a 3-3 draw.

It also remains tight at the top of JCK Division Two.

Ayre United scored an impressive 6-1 win over Foxdale to keep their place near the head of the pack.

The Tangerines, however, miss out on top spot on goal difference to Union Mills who triumphed 9-0 at Malew.

Onchan complete the trio on 24 points after they beat near neighbours Governor’s Athletic 1-9 at Bemahague.

St John’s and Braddan remain within a couple of points of the second-tier pacesetters.

The Johnners drew 1-1 with Colby, while Braddan were 3-0 winners over Gymns.

The other match in the division between Michael United and RYCOB ended 4-4, a result that sees the latter lose ground on the rest of the teams going for promotion and a Paul Henry Gold Cup spot.
