St George’s won Saturday’s big game in the Canada Life Premier League beating rivals Peel 2-5 at Douglas Road.

Ciaran McNulty gave Geordies the lead with barely two minutes on the clock before Furo Davies’s deflected shot doubled the Saints lead 25 minutes in.

Lee Gale pulled one back just before the half-time break, but a Ciaran McNulty penalty 13 minutes into the second half restored Geordies’ two-goal lead.

Peel rallied once again and Shaun Kelly finished off a rapid Peel counter-attack, spearheaded by Matty Skillicorn, to bring the score back to 2-3.

Peel pressed for a leveller, but two late Geordies goals sealed the Glencrutchery Road side the three points to maintain their 100 per cent start to the campaign.

Sub Calum Morrissey lashed home a fourth for the Saints before adding a fifth from the spot after Sam Caine was brought down by Lee Gale on the edge of the area.

Early leaders Corinthians have lost a second successive match after they were beaten 2-0 by DHSOB at Ballafletcher thanks to goals from Martin King and David Quirk.

The victory keeps Old Boys’ Cu-Plas Railway Cup hopes alive. Rushen United are also in contention for a Cup spot after they beat Braddan 3-0 at Victoria Road. Two Jack Saxon penalties and an own goal ensured the Spaniards moved up to sixth, with several games in hand over the rest.

Douglas Royal picked up only their second point of the season as they held St Mary’s to a 3-3 draw at Ballafletcher.

Royal remain in the bottom two alongside Ramsey who were beaten 7-0 by Douglas Athletic.

In JCK Division Two, the race for promotion continues to hot up. Leaders RYCOB lost away at in-form Marown losing 4-3 at Crosby. On the scoresheet for the hosts were Ash Higginbotham (2), Andy O’Neill and Connor Gilbert.

Foxdale slumped to their first defeat of the campaign as they lost 5-1 at home to Onchan who are now up to third.

Pulrose are one place higher in second after they beat Ayre United 7-0, Silver Boot favourite Stephen Glover among with the Pully scorers with a hat-trick.

Castletown remain in touching distance of the top two after they beat Michael United 4-0.

At the foot of the table, Gymns search for a first point of the campaign continues as they slipped to a narrow 4-3 defeat at the hands of Malew.

In the second tier’s other game Douglas and District edged past Governor’s Athletic 2-1 at Bemahague.
