Canada Life Premier League leaders St Mary’s came from behind to draw 1-1 with third-placed Rushen United at a blustery Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

Mike Williams scored at the end of the first half to give the visitors the lead before Tom Weir levelled things up for the hosts with 15 minutes left on the clock.

The draw means the reigning champions now lead the chasing pack by eight points, but having played a couple of games more than most.

Corinthians are up to second after they continued their recent good form in front of goal with a 7-1 win over Marown.

St George’s are fourth after they overcame Douglas Royal 6-0 at Glencrutchery Road.

Game of the day arguably took place at Glen Road where Laxey and Peel played out an enthralling 4-4 draw in a match that saw three penalties awarded.

At the foot of the division, Pulrose United picked up a second point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Ramsey. Bottom side Pully now only trail Royal by two points in the race to beat the drop.

In the day’s four Woods Cup ties, Douglas and District triumphed at RYCOB on spot kicks after a see-saw 5-5 draw at Scooil-Ree-Gorree.

St John’s beat fellow competition favourites Colby 3-1, while elsewhere there were wins for Onchan and Union Mills over Michael United and Governor’s Athletic.
