Castletown moved nine points clear of the Canada Life Premier League’s relegation spot with a hard-fought 4-2 win at Marown on Saturday.

Town leapfrog their opponents in the standings after coming from behind to triumph in the wet at Crosby.

The southerners took an early lead through Jack Camarda’s strike, but Marown mustered an almost immediate riposte through Stu Morris.

Morris fired his side in front from the penalty spot to give the hosts a 2-1 advantage at the half-time break.

Camarda drew Town level at the start of the second half after referee John McCallum awarded his second penalty of the match.

Joel Callow completed the turnaround when he lashed in, before Jamie Cadwallader wrapped up a big three points at the foot of the table with seven minutes left on the clock.

Bottom side Laxey, who weren’t in action today, are now seven points behind Marown, Douglas Royal and St John’s with four games left to play.

Royal lost 5-0 to new league leaders St Mary’s, while in the other game to go ahead in the top-flight, St George’s triumphed 3-1 at Douglas Athletic.

It was a day for the away teams in the GH Corlett Woods Cup quarter-finals, with all four winning without conceding.

Cup favourites Pulrose triumphed 6-0 at Onchan, while Ramsey hit Governor’s Athletic for 10.

The other two quarter-final ties were much closer, Foxdale beating Union Mills 2-0 thanks to goals from Ricky Newsham and Scott Kermeen. Dean Tate’s 83rd minute goal sealed Ayre United a 1-0 win at Gymns.

Ayre will host northern neighbours Ramsey in the semi-finals, Pulrose United facing Onchan in March 30’s other last-four tie.

In the rearranged FA Cup first round draw, Premier League side DHSOB required a stoppage-time winner to see off second-tier Malew 3-2 at a game that was switched to Clagh Vane.

There was only one game in JCK Division Two, Colby continuing their fine recent form with a 5-1 win at Douglas and District.
